Product Description
Few lenses stay in a clinician’s hand as often as a three-mirror. The Ocular 3 Mirror Universal is the Goldmann-style workhorse: one lens that lets you assess the anterior chamber angle and sweep the peripheral retina at the slit lamp without switching instruments. Three internal mirrors sit at 59°, 67°, and 73°, each opening up a different zone — the angle for gonioscopy, and the mid and far peripheral fundus for retinal exam — while the central optic gives you roughly 36° of the posterior pole straight through the lens.
That versatility is what makes it a staple for both glaucoma and retina practices. For glaucoma, the mirror dedicated to the angle supports gonioscopic grading with a 140° static gonio field of view. For retina, rotating the lens brings the peripheral fundus into view mirror by mirror — useful when you’re hunting for breaks, lattice, or peripheral pathology that a non-contact lens can miss. The 0.93× image magnification keeps the view close to life-size for accurate assessment.
This is the “Universal” style in an 18 mm contact diameter with a 32.2 mm lens height — a common, comfortable size for routine use, and part of a family offered in multiple heights and diameters if you standardize across a group. Like all Goldmann-type contact lenses, it’s used with a coupling solution at the slit lamp for a clear, stable optical interface.
Optimetrics has supplied ophthalmic equipment and instruments since 1987. This lens is offered new with a 2–3 week delivery time — add it to your cart to order, and contact us if you need a different height or contact diameter from the three-mirror family.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ocular 3 Mirror Universal used for?
It’s a Goldmann-type diagnostic contact lens used at the slit lamp for gonioscopy of the anterior chamber angle and for examining the peripheral fundus. Its three mirrors and central optic let one lens cover the angle, the peripheral retina, and the posterior pole.
What are the three mirror angles for?
The mirrors are angled at 59°, 67°, and 73°. Each brings a different zone into view — the angle for gonioscopic grading and the mid-to-far peripheral fundus for retinal examination — while the center of the lens views about 36° of the posterior pole.
What size is this lens, and are other sizes available?
This is the Universal style with an 18 mm contact diameter and a 32.2 mm lens height. The three-mirror family is also offered in additional heights and diameters, which we can supply on request.
Does it require a coupling solution?
Yes. Like all Goldmann-type contact lenses, it’s used with a coupling solution at the slit lamp to maintain a clear, stable optical interface with the cornea during the exam.
Is it in stock, and how do I order?
