Optec 5000P Vision Testing System
The Optec 5000P earns its place because it replaces a wall of separate tests with a single seated station. An operator — including ancillary staff — can screen distance and near acuity (monocular and binocular), Ishihara color vision, stereopsis, the astigmatic clock, and lateral and vertical phorias in about three minutes per patient. The “P” adds a peripheral vision test, which is what makes this unit the go-to for DOT, occupational, and driver-screening programs that a standard acuity chart can’t satisfy.
What keeps results defensible is the illumination. Stereo Optical’s Optec screeners are built to meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) target-illuminance requirements, and the 5000P uses an LED lighting system with homogeneous brightness across the field — so there are no bulbs to age, drift, or replace.
