Product Description
Swept-source is what sets the Triton apart from a conventional spectral-domain OCT. Its 1,050 nm light penetrates deeper into the eye — reaching the choroid and imaging through cataracts, vitreous hemorrhage, gas bubbles, and other media opacities that stop shorter-wavelength systems. In practice that means you can image patients you’d otherwise have to turn away, and see structures (deep choroid, beneath opacities) that a standard OCT simply can’t resolve.
It’s also fast and comfortable. At 100,000 A-scans per second, a wide 12 mm × 9 mm scan covering both the optic nerve and macula is captured in about 1.8 seconds, so a full posterior-pole assessment takes seconds. The invisible scan beam lets patients hold fixation without a bright flash, which reduces involuntary eye movement, rescans, and chair time. IMAGEnet 6 with PixelSmart processing sharpens the result for clean, presentable reports.
Where this “Plus” configuration earns its keep is multimodality. Beyond SS-OCT, it delivers non-mydriatic true-color fundus photography, digital red-free imaging, and — unique to the Triton Plus — fluorescein angiography (FA) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF). That lets you correlate structural OCT with vascular (FA) and metabolic/RPE (FAF) findings in one instrument, one patient position — invaluable for diabetic retinopathy, AMD, vascular occlusions, and inherited retinal disease.
This unit is sold as a complete, ready-to-run system: the instrument, an all-in-one PC with IMAGEnet 6 on Windows 10, and the instrument table are all included — plug in and start imaging. It is refurbished and backed by a 1-year warranty. Optimetrics has supplied ophthalmic equipment since 1987. This system is pickup only. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Triton and the Triton Plus?
Both are multimodal swept-source OCTs with true-color fundus imaging. The Triton Plus adds fluorescein angiography (FA) and fundus autofluorescence (FAF), so you can correlate structural OCT with vascular and RPE/metabolic findings in one instrument. This is the Plus model.
Why choose swept-source OCT over a standard OCT?
The Triton’s 1,050 nm swept-source light penetrates deeper and images through media opacities like cataracts, vitreous hemorrhage, and gas bubbles that block conventional spectral-domain systems — so you can image more patients and see the deep choroid. Its invisible beam also reduces involuntary eye movement and rescans.
What is included with this Triton Plus system?
It ships as a complete turnkey system: the Triton Plus instrument, an all-in-one PC with IMAGEnet 6 software on Windows 10, and the instrument table. It’s ready to run on delivery.
How fast is it, and what does it capture in one scan?
It runs at 100,000 A-scans per second and captures a wide 12 × 9 mm scan covering both the optic nerve and macula in about 1.8 seconds, along with true-color fundus, red-free, FA, and FAF imaging.
