Product Description
Specular microscopy usually means a careful hand on a joystick and a patient held still. The SP-1P removes that friction. The operator simply taps the center of the pupil shown on the large 10.4-inch rotatable touch panel, and the instrument automatically centers, focuses, and acquires the endothelial cell image in a few seconds. Because the monitor rotates to different angles and there’s no control lever, staff face the patient directly, and the whole capture is fast and smooth enough for a minimally trained technician to run.
Where the SP-1P stands apart is its Wide-Angle Panorama mode. Instead of a single central frame, it photographs three areas — central, nasal, and temporal — and automatically stitches them into a substantially larger analysis area. That larger cell sample matters most exactly when it’s hardest to get: in eyes with reduced cell counts, such as Fuchs’ dystrophy, post-transplant, or pre-cataract corneas, where more analyzed cells means a more reliable endothelial assessment. A standard Sequence Course and a quick Free Style Course cover both structured and on-the-fly workflows.
The analysis is built to be read at a glance. Corneal thickness (CCT), cell density (CD), coefficient of variation (CV), hexagonality (HEX), and cell count appear in large type at the top of the screen, and a single tap switches the graph to a pleomorphic or polymegethic histogram in color. Corneal thickness pachymetry (0.400–0.750 mm) is captured with the central fixation target, so endothelial morphology and thickness come from one instrument. Reports print to an external printer or directly from the device, and LAN/IMAGEnet connectivity ties it into your data system.
Compact and space-saving at about 17 kg, the SP-1P fits a modern lane and pairs naturally with other Topcon automated instruments. Optimetrics has supplied ophthalmic equipment since 1987 and includes a 1-year warranty on this unit. It is pickup only.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Topcon SP-1P capture images without a joystick?
You tap the center of the patient’s pupil on the 10.4″ touch screen, and the SP-1P automatically centers, focuses, and acquires the endothelial cell image in a few seconds. Removing the joystick makes it fast, smooth, and easy for minimally trained staff to operate.
What is the Panorama mode used for?
Panorama photographs three areas — central, nasal, and temporal — and automatically combines them into a larger analysis area. The bigger cell sample is especially valuable in eyes with reduced cell counts, such as Fuchs’ dystrophy, post-transplant, or pre-cataract corneas, improving the reliability of the assessment.
Does the SP-1P measure corneal thickness?
Yes. It includes corneal thickness measurement (pachymetry) over a 0.400–0.750 mm range using the central fixation target, reported alongside cell density, coefficient of variation, and hexagonality — so morphology and thickness come from one instrument.
What analysis does it provide?
It displays corneal thickness (CCT), cell density (CD), coefficient of variation (CV), hexagonality (HEX), and cell count in large type, and can switch to color pleomorphic or polymegethic histograms. Reports print externally or directly from the device.
Is it in stock, and how do I order?
