The Humphrey Field Analyzer has been the clinical reference in automated perimetry for decades, and the HFA3 Model 860 represents the fully equipped configuration of that platform. Where the entry-level 830 and the mid-range 840 leave features on the table, the 860 arrives with every hardware and software option enabled as standard — including the automated Liquid Trial Lens, which no other HFA3 model offers.

Trial lens handling is where most of the chair time is lost in a perimetry lane. The Liquid Trial Lens replaces the manual lens holder: the patient’s refractive correction is applied automatically from the data entered into the instrument, so there is no lens selection, no lens swapping between eyes, and no transcription error propagating into the test result. For practices running high visual field volume, this alone changes the rhythm of the exam room.

Reliability of the data is addressed on the acquisition side. The 860 includes gaze tracking, head tracking and the vertex monitor as standard, plus the RelEYE monitor, which captures the patient’s eye position so the operator can review fixation at individual stimulus points rather than trusting a summary index. Auto pupil measurement and foveal threshold are also standard, and the instrument supports white, blue and red stimuli, which opens the door to SITA-SWAP short-wavelength testing alongside conventional white-on-white perimetry.

On the analysis and connectivity side, Guided Progression Analysis is standard across the HFA3 range and lets you set and change baselines to track how fast a field defect is advancing. Legacy data from HFA II and HFA II-i instruments transfers into the HFA3, so a practice replacing an older unit does not lose patient history. The kinetic interface covers the full 180° testing range, and the instrument connects to ZEISS FORUM for centralized review alongside other ZEISS diagnostic data. This unit ships with its instrument table, so the lane is ready to run on installation.
